Inspired by Joceyln Olson

When I saw Taheera's interview on the Gossip Column with Joceyln Olson, I knew I had to case one of her cards. I decided to base my card on one of the cards featured with my own twist to it. I used a lovely paper collection from Kaisercraft called Miss Match (no longer available, but I like to hoard the nice collections) and the Winnie and Walter stamp set 'The Big, The Bold and The Extras'. I stamped the flower and leaves on patterned paper and fussy cut them out. I also white embossed on vellum as well as Jocelyn did this in some of her cards. Here is my interpretation of a Jocelyn Olson card. Thanks for dropping by!

Hero Arts Flickr Challenge

I hosted the Hero Arts Flickr Group 90 minute Scramble this morning. The theme was 'Vintage'. The participants in the challenge must make a card within the 90 minute timeframe and upload to the Flickr group. These are my two sample cards made for the challenge.
The first card was inspired by a coffee cup design and the current sketch #24 from Tag You're It Challenge.

The second card is based on a sketch from A Blog Named Hero using patterned paper from Basic Grey Lucille collection (this is a very Vintage theme collection).

PTI June Blog Hop

I love the inspiration photo for this month's PTI blog hop! After searching through my neglected patterned paper pads, I decided to pick a Basic Grey set and I was lucky to have a matching flower as well. It all came together quite quickly when I decided to use Danielle Flanders' Make It Monday card - Bringing the Inside Out. So the flower is actually stuck on the inside of the card! Can't wait to see the other cards - Happy Blog Hopping!

Runway Inspired Sophie Theallet

This card has been inspired by the current Runway Inspired Challenge - Sophie Theallet Fall 2015 (the photo is below). I've used a Hero Arts background stamp, embossed with black EP, mask and sponged with distress inks (Peeled Paint, Squeezed Lemonade and Seedless Preserve) and used the sketch from the current CAS(E) This Sketch #128. I'm also adding this card to the Hero Arts June's challenge - Tic Tac Toe. I've used a background stamp, birthday and die-cutting for this card. I'm also adding this card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes. Thanks for dropping by!

Polka Dot Butterfly

Sometimes, a CAS card is very hard to do! I wanted to use the current CAS(E) this Sketch #127 and I thought it was going to be easy.... not the case... you should see how may butterflies ended up on my work bench when I finally finished this card! Some of them might end up on a future card! I decided to get out some polka dot vellum paper which I've been hoarding for a while now. Believe it or not, it is from an Origami kit from Daiso (the $2.80 Japanese shop). I chose shades of yellow and orange to create an ombre effect with the layers. After the a lot of trial and errors, I ended up using a piece of vellum for the backdrop. Doing the four squares was just too hard and looked unbalanced. The sentiment and butterfly are from Hero Arts and the square die is from Lil'Inkers.
I'm adding this card to the following challenges:
CAS(E) This Sketch #127
Virginia's View Challenge #15 - Ombre/Monochromatic
Addicted to CAS - Butterfly
A Blog Named Hero - Favourite Challenge (My Favourite HA Butterfly die)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Favourite Product (My Favourite HA Butterfly die)

Congrats Card

This card is made for a little girl's First Communion. As I didn't have any religious stamps or sentiments, I decided to go for a 'Congrats' card. I made this in shades of pink with the sentiment embossed with Liquid Platinum. The stamp sets are from Winnie and Walter.
I'm adding this card to:
Virginia View's Challenge - Ombre/Monochromatic

A Coffee Card!

I've been seeing lovely cards made for the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and was not going to participate as I did not have any coffee cup stamps. But when going through my stash the other day I'd realised there is a Hero Arts stamp I could use. Believe it or not, the stamp has not been removed from its original packaging ever since I bought it ?2 years ago! I had so much fun with it, I may make more cards from the same stamp set again! Here it is and I'm adding it to the following challenges:
- Hero Arts Tic Tac Toe challenge (Heat Emboss/Die Cut/Fave Colour)
- Fusion Card Challenge
- Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Masculine Fusion Card

I've got a few male birthdays coming up over the next few months and I wanted to make a card using the current Fusion Card Challenge sketch. I didn't go for the same colours as the photo as I didn't have the matching patterned paper. I decided to go for the neutral wood tones with Kaisercraft paper, wood veneer and vellum. Here is my card and I'm adding it also to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Make it Masculine Challenge and Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes Challenge (The sentiment, anchor and note paper tag are all from Paper Smooches). Thanks for dropping by!

Painted Flowers

I was on a high last week from my trip overseas. Since being back at work and despite having a good week so far, I was received some really disappointing news which I'm not going to disclose yet. So when I got home, I was really happy about the A Blog Named Hero blog post, the scheduled post went well with a slight hitch which I fixed up. After dinner, I needed to make another card to take my mind off work. I decided to case Vicki Dutcher's Muse card this week. I was going to go for the same colours but decided to go for the Ombre look instead. The inks are a combination of three companies - Simon Says Stamp (Pale Blush Pink), Ranger (Pink Gumball) and Hero Arts (Pale Tomato). I had to add some sequins and pearls of course! I'm also adding this card to Virginia View's Ombre Challenge. Oh, did anyone see this post on Virginia's blog - my card got an Honourable Mention! I feel much better now, thanks for dropping by!

An Ombre Case

I was really excited when my crafty friend Michelle from Handmade by Michelle asked me to join the Facebook team for A Blog Named Hero. This Hero Arts stamp is from a really old stamp set that is one of my favourites - CG490 Four Flowers. I decided to use the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch#125 and masked off a strip to stamp the flowers in shades of pink to purple. With the mask still on the card, I decided to add some distress ink to highlight the strip. I'm also adding this card to Virginia View's Ombre Challenge.
The sentiment stamp is from Winnie and Walter and the number dies from MFT. The inks are Hero Arts mid tone, Ranger and Distress Ink - all in shades of pink and purple. The card is A6 in size for someone who has had 20 years of service. This card was given to her early this week and she loved it! Thanks for dropping by!

60th Birthday Card

I'm sharing a special 60th birthday card for a very special person in my life. He is an inspirational teacher and has students all around the world. It took me a while to work out how to put this card together. I decided to use the PTI Mighty Oak stamp to create a tree which symbolises him and the different leaves representing all his students.

A group photo taken in Malaysia with all the International and local students. I'm seated in the front row.
